As a registered OFTEC business, we are regularly audited by the Oil Firing Technical Association to ensure we are upholding their guidelines and practising industry safe standards. This means we are an active member of a competent persons scheme and are therefore able to self certify our work without having to involve Local Authority Building Control (LABC). In most cases, oil tank installations fall under permitted development so an inspection visit or planning application will not be required. There can be exceptions to this but we can advise you of the current regulations during a site visit and if this is applicable to your property.
If you instruct us to install a new oil tank for you or replace your oil pipeline, you will receive your Certificate of Compliance in the post within 2 weeks of the completed install. No need to worry if you misplace the paper copy, we can easily send you an electronic version at very short notice. The icing on the cake should you decide to use Oil Safety Services for your installation, is the additional peace of mind offered by the 6 Year OFTEC Workmanship Warranty. This is activated as soon as your tank is registered with OFTEC and this workmanship warranty can be transferred to the new owners of your home, should you decide to move house within the 6 year warranty period.
We pride ourselves on helping you come to the best solution, we like to share our knowledge with you so you know what to expect from whoever you choose to carry out the work. Our priority is to ensure your safety and to help prevent any potential environmental risks from the event of an oil leak or spill. We offer friendly advice on warning signs, what to do in the event of an oil leak and what should be covered in the annual inspection of your tank and the ancillary equipment. We also listen to our customers so that you feel 100% happy with the work you instruct us to carry out, we are here to problem solve for you and discuss available options within the industry standard scope.
Will you need a home insurance policy that includes specific cover of your oil storage tank and pipeline?
What if you decide to move house in the future and the oil storage tank is flagged up on the prospective buyers survey?
No problem, should you decide to use Oil Safety Services for any of your oil tank or pipeline requirements, we provide you with all the relevant paperwork once your installation has been completed. This not only ensures validity of the manufacturers tank warranty, it also ticks a box for your home insurance and should you decide to sell your home in the future, one thing you won't need to be concerned with, is your oil tank causing a sticking point during the sale negotiations.
Are you looking to buy a new home or even purchasing a buy to let property with oil fired central heating?
Another service we are proud to offer potential new home buyers, is our Home Buyers OTE Inspection. If the surveyor has flagged up the oil storage tank, we can provide a specialist inspection with all the information you need to help make your next important decision. Once we have obtained written permission from the vendors or vendors agents that they are happy for us to carry out the inspection on your behalf, we arrange a convenient time to conduct the visit. We will perform a thorough visual inspection of the oil tank, base and ancillary equipment, up to the boiler. Our inspection report with recommendations and any relevant costings will be emailed to you within 48 hours, we try to be as prompt as possible as we know you will likely be in the later stages of negotiations.
Homeowners, for independent advice on your oil central heating, we recommend looking at the Oilsave Website whom work alongside professional bodies within the Oil Heating Industry, or you could also check out the Government website for a simple guide outlining what you need to know.
Here are just a few examples of installations undertaken by Oil Safety Services. We carry out all the work ourselves including any groundwork & building work so you only have to deal with us.
Our OFTEC oil tank installer is a qualified heating engineer, so you can feel confident that as long as your system was working without fault prior to our visit, we will never leave you without heating. As per industry safety standards, we pressure test your oil pipeline (where safely possible) for 15 minutes after every tank installation, to ensure there are no leaks plus we also start and check your boiler is running as it was previously.
As a small business we work closely with and support other local businesses. If you require any other services, for example electrical work, plumbing, boiler installation or landscaping, we have a great network of people we are happy to recommend.
