From spending the time with you during an oil storage tank assessment to talking you through what will be carried out during your boiler service, we like to arm you with the right knowledge to make the safest and best decision for your home heating.
Oil fired heating equipment and appliances require regular maintenance, without this you could be putting yourself at risk of costly repairs and distruptive remedial work should your system ever leak. Many people are not fully aware of just how expensive remediation can be should an oil spill ever happen.
The Environment Agency have produced a concise and informative leaflet for the South East explaining the importance of looking after your heating oil. However this relates to all areas on the UK and within it they state; "Cleaning up oil spills is difficult and can be very expensive. A recent domestic oil spill in Hampshire cost over £100,000 to clean up. If a water company’s drinking water source is affected, the clean up cost can exceed £1 million.".
Please click here if you wish to read the leaflet, it really is worth having a look and seeing what you can do to ensure your oil is safely stored.
It doesn't matter how often you have your boiler serviced, if your oil storage tank has contaminated heating oil in it due to a small hairline crack in the tank or an ill fitting cap allowing the ingress of water, then your system will not run efficiently and could even fail. The oil tank and ancillary equipment should be regularly checked and these checks should be carried out at every boiler service. The tanks filter should be changed, the fuel dip tested for water and if necessary, a tank clean and oil supply line purge. Make sure your boiler technician checks your tank at every annual service. If your engineer is unable to carry out the required work, then please call us and we would be happy to help. If you are worrired about an oil leak, we respond quickly and can help in the event of an emergnecy should you need your oil contained safely. We also carry out pressure testing of your oil lines, this test checks for any oil leaks in the system and is especially useful if you have underground oil lines which cannot be visually checked.
